2022: Marking a Decade in Business

It seems like only yesterday that we launched our Twitter Account Management service for a handful of local businesses. Fast-forward ten years to today and we’re proud to provide a flexible range of social media management and marketing services to a whole host of UK organisations.

Although much has changed over the past decade, online marketing has really come into its own. Not to mention the shock arrival of a global pandemic, which has certainly seen a shift in business approaches and workplaces over the past two years alone.

In 2022, there are many more social media platforms to choose from and with plenty of people now opting to work or socialise at home, they are spending more time scrolling social media feeds for business, employment or lifestyle reasons. According to a recent study, 90% of people buy from brands they follow on social media so it’s easy to see why more businesses are now regularly posting – especially on fast-growing platforms such as Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.

We love to be able to support local and UK businesses; with sectors including property, health and fitness, engineering and wildlife management in our portfolio. When the Covid-19 pandemic and national lock-down started in March 2020, we noticed that most of our clients continued to be able to run their businesses remotely, which was positive news. If anything, social media became even more important because so many potential customers were now at home and more likely to be browsing the internet. In our experience, there was an up-tick in users looking for brands who they could research and engage with online. This meant that we needed to be on hand more than ever, to respond to enquiries and enable our clients to leverage their social media as a successful customer service point.

Many of our clients also took the opportunity to update their websites during lock-down – this included new text and blogs to keep their content fresh. We were able to write copy for web pages and blogs, to give our clients’ online presence a welcome boost.

Now that we’ve come through the first quarter of 2022, our clients have survived the difficulties of the Covid-19 pandemic and are settling into a slightly new way of working – either by moving more of their business online or allowing their teams to work more remotely.

Although much has changed in the business world, for us, some things remain constant. Our very first client in 2012 was Barenaked Foods, whose founder Ross Mendham went on to appear on BBC Dragons’ Den and secure investment from the one and only Peter Jones. Today, Barenaked Noodles & Rice are a well-established brand on the UK’s supermarket shelves and with a range of online specialist retailers. We’re looking forward to developing our continued relationship with Ross and the team, alongside our other highly-valued and long-standing clients. We may even have the chance to represent a Dragons’ Den winner again in the future…!

Fast Facts: Total Social Media Users in 2022

Twitter – 340 million people

Facebook – 2.895 million people

Instagram – 1 billion people

MN Landscapes Cultivates 20 Years of Growth

Copyright © Keith Whitmore

Norfolk based MN Landscapes are delighted to be celebrating their 20th anniversary on 4th August 2017.

Established in rural Wymondham in 1997 by Martin and Nicky Wood, MN Landscapes continues to offer creative landscape design, construction and maintenance across Norfolk and Suffolk. Martin & Nicky both have a daily hands-on approach in the company, whilst looking for new ideas and both are looking forward for the future.

A family-run company with the ability to handle high quality landscape construction projects, MN Landscapes are proud to be long standing members and accredited by the APL (Association of Professional Landscapers) and BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries).

A recent highlight for Martin and Nicky involved building The Notcutts Garden, which was opened by the Lord Mayor of Norwich on May 11 2017 at the Notcutts Garden Centre in Daniels Road, Norwich. Coverage of the event can be viewed on the Eastern Daily Press website at http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/new-garden-display-hopes-to-inspire-visitors-to-get-creative-in-their-gardens-1-5017351. Since the Notcutts Norwich show garden they have installed similar gardens at Nottingham, Staines in Surrey and Tunbridge Wells for the Notcutts Group with more to follow.

Previously MN Landscapes entered national awards hosted by the Association of Professional Landscapers and were proud to have been commended by the judges in both categories.

Now in its twentieth year, MN Landscapes has grown into an impressive team of dedicated soft landscaping gardening and hard landscaping professionals. MN Landscapes have invested heavily in their fleet of sign written vehicles with a range of specialist equipment and machinery, enabling the company to handle more involved and technical projects.

Martin Wood said: “Garden landscaping has evolved over the past 20 years. Modern trends are that people are using their gardens as an additional room to their homes for families and social entertaining. In the future, we expect to see an increase in the use of outdoor lighting and preparation & cooking areas as well as a change in design and planting themes to take into account the changing seasons. We are delighted to be offering our garden maintenance services to some of our first clients of now 20 years.”

Norfolk company seeks support for movement tutoring system

learn_movement_skull_interior_brainLearn Movement is approaching companies of all sizes, both locally and nationally, who are keen to be associated with a unique product we have designed which is helping with dementia and with recovery after stroke.

The product is called the RydaMablet system, which is designed to help those recovering from stroke and other brain injuries in addition to those with dementia and other neurological conditions. As we are local to Norwich, the product is manufactured using local companies.

learn_movement_easy_rydaThe RydaMablet is bringing great benefit to many people and although many hospitals, care homes, clubs and organisations are very keen to use them, funds are not available in all cases. The Norwich Community Hospital in particular are planning on finding funds so that they can trial the device in their stroke unit.

Catching up with Barenaked Foods

Ross & Richard Osman

If you’re a fan of the BBC television programme “Dragons’ Den” then you probably remember Ross Mendham and Barenaked Foods. The entrepreneur from Norfolk first appeared on the show in 2013, pitching for a £60k investment in his gluten-free noodle business, when things took an emotional turn. Asked about his family, Ross was overwhelmed as he recalled his wife Kelly’s most recent miscarriage and had to leave the den. However, he gathered himself, re-emerged from the famous lift and faced the formidable “Dragons” once more. That was when Peter Jones surprised everybody by offering Ross the investment he needed. The prolific investor immediately saw the clever business idea and the genuine passion of the man behind it.

Three years later and Ross is back in the news – last week saw him interviewed on BBC Radio Norfolk and Look East; featured in the Eastern Daily Press and Radio Times; an appearance on the BBC Breakfast sofa and finally on Sunday, an interview with presenter Richard Osman, for the “Dragons’ Den: Pitches to Riches” follow-up programme.

Ross revealed that with the ongoing support from Peter Jones, Barenaked Foods has now moved from selling a few hundred to 800,000 packs of noodles per week and the business is well on the way to being worth £2 million. His products are on sale in three major UK supermarkets as well as health shops and specialist online stores. Better still, he and Kelly welcomed a baby boy to their family in 2014!

We’re delighted to have been working with Barenaked Foods since 2012, allowing us to experience just a small part of the business’ journey as it has evolved. We’re also very proud of local boy Ross for all his hard work and incredible inspiration!

Why Use Facebook for your Business?

social-media-thumbs-up-300x300

The answer to this is simple – having a Facebook business page gives you the opportunity to increase exposure of your products and services to thousands of potential customers (and Facebook currently boasts 1.55 billion monthly users worldwide!)

Here’s how Facebook can be a powerful marketing tool for your business:

Start a Facebook business page (it’s free!)

Although you may choose a graphic designer to create a profile picture and cover photo for your page, photographs of your business and products are even better. The only time you need to start paying for Facebook is for specific advertising such as increasing page likes, boosting posts and running Sponsored Stories – all of which are relatively low-cost, easy to set up and more targeted to your ideal audience than the more traditional channels. A Social Year: Review of 2014

As 2014 draws to a close, we’ve been reflecting on yet another busy year! With so many exciting new projects including social media management, customer service & admin support, proof reading and tons of copywriting, we always enjoy helping our clients grow.

Many organisations are embracing social media to enhance their brand and develop their customer care levels, and with platforms such as SnapChat and Instagram now being used for advertising, we’re looking forward to finding out what the next 12 months have in store.

twitter1Twitter has been in the news rather a lot this year and some of the negative stories may have put people off joining the social media network. With 284 million monthly active users, it’s incredible to witness how fast a single tweet can be shared across the globe – all the more reason for sending positive, informative messages. Unfortunately, a few “tweeters” could do with a little guidance when it comes to tact and diplomacy!

static.squarespace.comBoasting 1.19 billion users worldwide, Facebook has been developing more tools for business this year.  We’ve been inundated with client requests for Facebook advertising campaigns because it’s highly targeted and very cost-effective. The results have been encouraging so we hope Mark Zuckerberg’s team will be coming up with some more clever and user-friendly ideas for next year!

social-media-seoWe’ve also been busy writing blogs and website content since the summer so it’s fantastic to know that businesses are improving their websites to keep up with modern technology, their competitors and of course Google algorithms! SEO and social media work together brilliantly to reach out to ideal audiences; that’s why we always recommend focussing on both to create the best results for publicising products and services.

We’re very excited about 2015 and hope you will join us on our journey. We’d like to thank our wonderful clients and friends for their ongoing and valued support.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!!

(P.S We won’t be sending Christmas cards this year so we’re making a donation to Anxiety UK!)

Social Media and SEO – how effective is your website?

social-media-seoYour business SEO strategy may currently be based around link-building – where specific paths are created to lead directly to your website and increase your search engine ranking – but this is no longer the best way to promote your website.

Although Google once allowed the tactic of using link generation as popularity votes, it wasn’t long before they realised that fake link-building could lead to some websites gaining an unfair advantage in terms of popularity and ranking. The old system of link-building could in fact be easily manipulated by web builders to enhance their SEO ranking which led to Google introducing penalties to counteract the problem. Google has now discovered a smarter way of measuring the popularity of your website – and it’s called social media.

If you have a Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn account for your business, you probably already have a group of “fans” who are willing and able to share your content. Not only can you share content from your website or blog, you can use social media “like” or “share” buttons as a brand new voting system! These are the tools that Google now employs to measure SEO as they are more effective and much tougher to manipulate.

The old method of link-building often created multiple pathways to your website but how would people find them? Chances are, you were churning out hundreds of links to your pages but nobody was paying attention! The beauty of social media is that conversations, events and interactions are constant and they are happening in real-time. The best (and quickest) way to increase your online influence is to have a presence where people are active and ready to engage. Once you start to generate consistent, quality posts on social media, you will begin to find the right audience for marketing your business.

Google is now also using social media to monitor the popularity of your website. It can calculate how many people visit your website; how many users share your content; how many followers/fans you have and whether you have social media interaction links built into your web pages. These are known as “social signals” and they are Google’s new way of measuring your website ranking.

It’s also been proven that social media links drive quality traffic to your website, whereas the majority of links from SEO building would fail because they would do nothing except act as a signpost for your website. Social media links have the potential to connect with real people (not bots or spammers); they increase the number of followers/fans in your social circles and can help generate sales for your business.

Google is now taking a stance against link-building because it can be manipulated and therefore does more harm than good when it comes to SEO. When promoting your website, focus on providing value and quality across your marketplace – and the best way to do this is via social media.

Here are a few things to remember:

The best digital marketing strategies for your business include both SEO and social media

SEO is no longer about building links and using keywords – strong content and quality web design are now essential tools

Social media plays a big part in customer service, reputation and generating recommendations (all of these have an impact on purchasing decisions)

Don’t forget to optimise your website for mobile phone and tablet as well as desktop computer use (you can also explore location-based marketing and apps)

Google+ is also a social media site and although not as popular as Facebook, it can be used to boost the search ranking of your website
